For many older adults, being independent and aging in their own home for as long as possible is a priority. The County’s Multipurpose Senior Services Program (MSSP) can help. MSSP is a care management service for older adults, age 60 and older, who are eligible for Medi-Cal and at risk of being placed in a nursing facility.

Physical activity strengthens muscles, improves bone density and builds cardiovascular health which means greater independence. It can also reduce the risk of falls and fractures. Even light activities like walking, gardening or gentle yoga can make a significant difference.
