In calendar year 2025, the County celebrated the completion of nine new affordable housing developments, adding a total of 867 apartment homes to the region.

Working families and residents transitioning from homelessness have a new place to call home in the heart of City Heights: Serenade on 43rd. Serenade is a new 65-unit affordable housing community that includes four buildings centered around shared, outdoor open spaces.

The journey from homelessness to becoming housed can be a complex and sometimes lengthy process. Every person has unique challenges and circumstances, so there isn’t one easy pathway that works for all. Last year, an outreach team from the County’s Office of Homeless Solutions and Caltrans began building a relationship with that veteran to earn his trust and convince him to accept help.
